In Ancona, Palumbo Superyachts inaugurated its 80 metre Superyacht.. Dragon, 80 metres superyacht leaves port from Ancona Palumbo shipyard.
An emotional ceremony took place whereby not only Columbus celebrated the largest yacht ever built by the company but it was also a confirmation of the winning strategy undertaken by Giuseppe Palumbo, when in 2011 he decided to invest in the superyacht sector.
The Palumbo family has built an empire in the shipbuilding industry thanks to the vision, determination and persistence of Antonio Palumbo and his sons Giuseppe and Raffaele. Today the Palumbo Group has shipyards throughout Europe offering ship repair , yacht repair and transformation and also for superyachts building.
The new motor Yacht Dragon is an addition to the fleet of Columbus brand together with the award-winning Sport Hybrid 40 metres, M/Y Divine and M/Y Eleonora 3, 54 metres M/Y Prima, 57 metres M/Y Taiba.
For the launch operation the new Syncrolift Palumbo Superyacht platform was used to lift up to 3,300 tons of weight.
Dragon was commissioned in 2016 by a very experienced ship owner who promised that he will have it available for 2019 summer. The shipyard will present it in a world preview to the next Monaco Yacht Show in September 2019.
The extraordinary Dragon lines are the result of a careful stylistic research. Motor Yacht was in fact born, from the sophisticated naval engineering of the Hydro Tec studio that also created the exterior design. The interior was designed by Francesco Guida.
Dragon has the most advanced technology, since the superyacht is spread over six decks. One is completely dedicated to the owner with a large suite, study, wardrobes, living room and bathrooms. Another deck is dedicated to guest with five maxi cabins positioned on the main deck.
However an exceptional aspect among the distinctive features of Dragon, is the 8 metres swimming pool with a counter-current swimming system on the sun deck. A 200 metres square-metre beach club and a fully equipped wellness/spa on the penultimate deck.
Dragon can navigate up to 16.5 knots thanks to a pair of Mtu motors of 2,240 Kw each. It is also interesting to note that Dragon can also reach 6,000 nautical miles at 12 knots eco-speed.
Palumbo Superyacht was born in 2008, with the Columbus Yacht brand. Three years later, in 2011, Columbus Yacht launched its first superyacht baptized “Prima”. Palumbo Superyachts has a representative office in Monaco and a logistic network of five shipyards in the Mediterranean (Ancona, Napoli, Malta, Savona and Marsiglia) that operate with five world-renowned brands: ISA Yachts, Columbus Yachts, Mondomarine, Extra and Palumbo SY dedicated to refit.
Currently the Columbus range offers five different lines: Sport, Oceanic, Classic, Tomahawk
