A suspected racist attack by a group of youths on two Ghanaian girls in Germany’s Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania province has sparked horror. An eight-year-old girl and her father suffered minor injuries in the incident in Grevesmühlen, police said. Both were taken to hospital by ambulance.
According to preliminary findings by investigators, the eight-year-old girl and her ten-year-old sister were attacked by a group of about 20 youths last evening. The assailants allegedly kicked the younger woman in the face. According to the police, when the children’s parents arrived, an argument broke out with them.
Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania’s Interior Minister Christian Begel strongly condemned the attack. “You don’t attack people, especially children, and certainly not for racist purposes.” Prime Minister Manuela Svecic wrote in X: “The injured girl is eight years old – as young as my daughter.
