US: Russia struggles with Kursk counter-offensive

According to the US Department of Defense, Russia is having trouble responding to a Ukrainian counteroffensive in western Russia’s Kursk region. Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder said in Washington yesterday that there are indications that a small number of units will be moved to the Moscow area. “In general, I would say that Russia is very difficult to react to.”

Ryder insisted that Ukraine “clearly got its adversary into trouble.” It can be assumed that both Russia and Ukraine and their allies are using their statements to engage in psychological warfare or promote their own side.

According to US reports, Ukrainian forces continue to advance in the area. With a counteroffensive launched two weeks ago, Ukraine, which had been attacked by Russia, moved the war into enemy territory for the first time. Russia continues to occupy large parts of eastern and southern Ukraine.

Zelensky praises for military progress

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky praised not only parliament for banning the Russian Orthodox Church, but also for his own military — especially the Kursk advance. On the other hand, as Zelensky admitted, the situation on the front line in Ukraine is difficult for Kiev.
