MDMK in South Asia and beyond

A conference at ÖAW looks at the development of the MDMK school from different angles.

Scholarly study of the MDM tradition has intensified in recent decades. Sanskrit manuscripts of important Indian Madhyamaka works have been rediscovered and long unavailable Tibetan scholastic treatises representing the reception of relevant Indian Buddhist teachings have also been examined.

However, important aspects are subject to scientific debate. The Institute for Asian Cultural and Intellectual History at OeAW invites you to conduct research on the topic as part of an international conference “MDMK in South Asia and Beyond”. to deepen Participants will present their research on all aspects of the MDM tradition from a linguistic, historical and/or philosophical perspective. The ontological aspects of the school, its logical and epistemological principles, its sources and historical connections with other Buddhist and non-Buddhist schools will be discussed.
