Andreas Vogel and Wolfgang Stroh discovered the comet on the Dalheim horizon near Wels on Friday, October 11, 2024 at 7 p.m.

The comet was easily spotted on the horizon around 7pm using binoculars. This was most evident in the Skywatcher StarTravel-102/500 large field refractor “comet finder”. However, we could not see a tail. The comet had the visual appearance of a star washed out with a clear coma. Atmospheric conditions were not ideal and the comet was, as expected, very low on the horizon. Although we found occasional gaps in the clouds where we could clearly see the comet, there were additional veiling clouds behind them that affected the contrast. With a lot of imagination, can you create a tail from bottom right to top left in the photos?
