A 43-year-old worker was found dead of an insect bite at a construction site in southeastern Styria on Wednesday afternoon. The Styria State Police announced on Thursday that the Burgenlander could no longer be saved with immediate first aid measures. A 43-year-old man from the district of Oberwaard (Burgenland) may have been stung by a bee or wasp and developed a severe allergic reaction.
The individual had previously carried out foundation sealing work alone at a private construction site in the remote shell of a building. When the homeowner arrived at the construction site around 2 p.m., he found the 43-year-old man lying lifeless on the floor, not breathing. Along with another specialist, the client immediately began resuscitation measures and was then picked up by an emergency medic from the alerted emergency services and a C12 rescue helicopter. Despite an hour and a half of first aid, only a 43-year-old man was pronounced dead.
An empty auto-injector (Epipen) was found near the lifeless person. The 43-year-old had already had to receive intensive care after suffering what was called anaphylactic shock. No signs of third party negligence could be identified. (APA)
