Starting March 1, W24, the city station of Vienna holding company WH Media, is proving that Viennese song is more alive than ever with the launch of a new season called “Wiener Leitkunst”.
In the cozy atmosphere of the traditional Hengl-Haselbrunner restaurant, Viennese song icon Agnes Palmisano has been running a unique music program for many years. To kick off this year, he invited local music legends Ernst Molten and Christopher Seeler for an unforgettable evening of music and Viennese charm. Fans of Ernst Molten or Christopher Seeler and lovers of Viennese songs and astropop will be pleasantly surprised – and get their money's worth.
“Wienerlit is alive! As city television, it is important for us to show Vienna from all sides. Wienerlit is a defining part of our city in its surroundings, and it's great to see great artists like Ernst. Molten and Christopher Seeler creating and interpreting art this time.W24 content director Michael Koffler says. This is the first edition produced and designed in collaboration with ORF III W24, underscoring the importance and influence of the Wienerlied and its contemporary relevance.
“Singing and composing in the Heurigen is part of the intangible cultural heritage of the Viennese Heurigen culture. The Viennese Tuttler is a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage; this unique style of singing has also come down through the centuries, especially from the Heurigen. It preserves these. Traditions, makes them possible, but to further develop and reinterpret them, it is ' The central concern of Wiener Leitkunst”Adds Agnes Palmisano.
For Christopher Seiler, it was his first time giving a concert at the Heurigen: “I've never experienced anything like it,” he would say of an evening filled with screams and touching moments. He found a great partner in the songwriter Ernst Molten: in addition to his own numbers (“S Klick”), Willy Resetaritz and many wonderful cover versions were translated into Viennese. The “Wiener Leitkunst” format was initiated during the lockdown by producer and director Stephen Musil.
