Around 8:30 the family left Niederthalheim with their ten-year-old son to watch the sunset on the lake. But when they were in the port area, they found a lifeless body in the water. The father immediately jumped into the Attersea and pulled the man out to a jetty.
There, the Red Cross was alerted and the 37-year-old and bathers administered first aid. Emergency medics tried to revive the 73-year-old, but to no avail. It is not clear when the swimming accident happened because the man was alone in Lake Attersea. Police have ordered an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
