Fire crews from Upper Lavendale and Korchisdal were called to work at several incidents last night. A great storm hit the northeast of Carinthia.
During the night from Thursday to Friday, northeast Carinthia was hit by storms with heavy rain. The Görtschitz and Lavant valleys were particularly hard hit. For example, the Eberstein Volunteer Fire Department was called to Hattenberg, where heavy rain caused flooding. “The approach was difficult because mudslides and trees blocked the road to some extent, and Kortschits overflowed its banks,” said Florianis on Facebook, who was stationed at Eberstein during the night. .
Road closed in Huttenberg due to storm damage
Meanwhile, the B92 and Mosinzer Landesstraße (L89) near Hüttenberg were also closed due to “massive storm damage”. The market town of Hüttenberg explains on Facebook. However, thanks to the tireless efforts of firefighters, the Eberstein Road Maintenance Department and the Klein St. Paul Police Department, the roads have now reopened.

Bollinger Strasse in St. Andre is partially torn down
Firefighters were on duty for several hours at night in Upper Lavandel as well. A “brief but violent thunderstorm” caused mudslides, flooding, downed trees and road closures, as St. Andrew Mayor Maria Gnader reported. Pollinger Straße was particularly badly affected and large parts were torn off.
The person had to be rescued from the flatbed truck
Especially the communities of Frantzack-St. Gertrude and Breiteneck were severely beaten in Upper Lavandel. Frantschach-St. Gertrude, more roads closed – more on that here. In Breiteneck, a man had to be rescued from a flatbed truck because it was pushed against the rails of a bridge over the overflowing Waldensteiner Bach. Fortunately, no one was injured in the storm, police said.
