In front of 3,550 spectators at the Innviertel Arena, SV Ried dominated the match against KSV with a great performance from the start. Berger had his first good chance after 19 minutes after a Bumperer header, but Strebinger missed. Moments later, Vollmuth brought the ball into the middle, but neither SVR striker could make use of the cross. Styrians had their first chance in the 36th minute, but Leitner was able to finish it off Hellbarth parry. Almost in return, Cross scored a goal, but it was disallowed due to foul play. It was 0-0 at the break.
In the second half, the Raiders got even stronger as the fog rolled in. In the 48th minute, Berger scored from close range after a Vollmuth cross. A few minutes later, Cross hit a nice long-range shot that hit the crossbar. In the 64th minute, SVR’s much-celebrated opening goal: after a Bomer cross, a Kapfenberg header headed into his own goal, before Berger scored to make it 1-0. Moments later, KSV had a good chance to equalize, but Leitner made the save. In the 85th minute, Cross made a fine individual effort and headed into the far corner to make it 2-0. Two minutes later, Mariček made the final score 3-0. The Slovenian beat Strebinger to make it 1-1 with a cross from the right. Kapfenberg couldn’t resist any longer, so SVR celebrated a well-deserved and important 3-0 home win!
