Israel: Nasrallah’s Hopeful Successor Probably Dead

According to the Israeli Defense Ministry, Hezbollah’s successor leader, Hashem Safideen, who was slated to succeed Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah, also died.

Hashem Safideen, who replaced slain Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah, is also believed to be dead, according to Israel’s Defense Minister, “Hezbollah is a headless organization – Nasrallah has been removed, and his successor may have been removed as well,” Yoav Galant said, according to his office. The minister did not name the head of the Hezbollah Executive Council.

“Israel has eliminated thousands of terrorists, including Nasrallah and Nasrallah’s successor and his successor,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a video address released Tuesday evening.

Gallant: “No One Makes Decisions Anymore”

None of the Lebanese Shia militias make decisions, Gallant continued. Hezbollah’s offensive capabilities have also suffered a severe setback. When the smoke clears in Lebanon, Iran will feel it has lost its greatest asset, Callant said, referring to pro-Iranian militias.

Al-Jazeera news channel reported a few days ago that Hezbollah had lost contact with Safideen. Hezbollah dismissed the reports as false. It was initially unclear whether Gallant was actually talking about Safideen.

A senior Hezbollah leader was reportedly the target of a massive Israeli bomb attack in the Lebanese capital Beirut last week. A relative of the slain Nasrallah, he is said to be well connected to Iran. Nasrallah was killed in an airstrike in late September. (APA)
