Isaac is representing Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest

According to NTR, the 28-year-old, whose full name is Isak Guterian, is a father of two. He has been a street musician for years and made a wider public appearance in 2011 as part of the X-Factor project. He won the digital talent show “Show Your Talent” during the Corona Pandemic. Isaac cannot explain his success in eliminating ESC. His guess: “Perhaps it was the peace I kept. I was 100 percent with myself,” he said after his win Saturday night.

Like the international ESC, the preliminary result was divided into two parts. 50 percent of the votes came from public voting, while the other 50 percent came from an international jury from eight countries. Isaac topped the audience vote. Isaac was rated the highest by the international jury with a total of 74 points. Max Mutzke received 55 points from the international jury and was second in the audience vote. Composer and music producer Ryke was previously considered a secret favorite, while pop singer Marie Reim received support from the pop industry. Electronic duo Gallant, Young Leona, Barefoot Dutch girl Bodin Monet and indie musician NinetyNine took part.

In the past, Germany has always been in last place. And so it was in 2023 – the band Lord of the Lost collected just 18 points in a poll at the ESC in Liverpool. Swede Loreen scored 583 points with her Europop hit “Tattoo”, bringing the ESC to Sweden.

Austria sends 29-year-old newcomer Kalin to Malmö. He will compete in the second semi-final on May 9. A total of 37 countries are competing for the title this year. Six countries did not have to go through the semi-final process: the Big Five, i.e. the highest payers, Germany, Great Britain, France, Italy and Spain. Plus, there's host Sweden, which is set for the final on May 11.
