Former state councilor Hans Seitinger died today at the age of 63. The sadness is great.

Styria is deeply saddened Hans Seitinger. The former member of the Rajya Sabha passed away today at the age of 63 due to acute illness. In 2003 he became a member of the Styrian state government. Most recently, he was responsible for the Agriculture and Forestry Departments, including Agriculture and Forestry Schools, Housing and Water and Resource Management. On October 5, 2023, Seitinger announced his resignation citing health reasons.

“To me, Hans Seitinger was the epitome of a Styrian”

The state governor is deeply shocked by the death news of Hans Settinger Christopher Drexler: “Hans Seitinger is a passionate fighter for our beloved home state and all Styrians. I am losing a friend and counselor – our country is losing one of its loyal servants.” The governor paid tribute to the deceased: “To me, Hans Seitinger was the epitome of a Styrian who lived responsibly. From the village youth leader to the fire chief, from the mayor to the state councillor. We have been working closely together in Styrian state politics for 20 years. I missed this close, good and trusting collaboration after his resignation. I can’t imagine now missing the valuable tips and advice he gave me in the turmoil of a text message or phone call from the hospital.

In autumn 2023, Governor Christopher Drexler thanked Johann Zeitinger for his more than 20 years of service as a member of the state government for Styria.

“With Hans Seitinger we have lost a fighter for Styria”

LH Drexler continued: “He worked passionately every day for his work, politics, and the people of Styria. During his two decades in the state government, he was always humane and humble. He was an approachable person, a connector. Hans Zeitinger always had an open ear for everyone, even in the biggest crises. Even-tempered and always very modest, he managed many delicate situations, and Hans Zeitinger took an active interest in politics, leading his department for almost 20 years until he resigned for health reasons. Housing, sustainability, water management along with many large and important flood protection projects. I wish his family – his wife Annie and his two children and grandchildren – a lot of strength during this difficult time. By Hans Seitinger We have lost a fighter for Styria. Personally, I mourn the loss of a close friend and mentor. We will be forever grateful for his achievements in 20 years in the state government. For this he deserves our utmost respect and recognition. Thanks, Hans!”

A great tragedy for Hans Seittinger

Cooperation with him was always characterized by objectivity and great appreciation. Styria will always cherish his memory for his achievements. I thank Hans Seitinger from the bottom of my heart for his dedication to our Styria. I would like to convey, but most of all, my deepest condolences to his family for his long-standing friendship beyond politics.
