Flood – death on shore
Director Andreas Proszaska (“The Dark Valley”) staged “The Flood – Death on the Dyke”, an event film based on Theodor Storm's famous master novel “The Schimmelreiter”: it tells the story of a community of fate in the Frisian North Sea. The beach, which — the brute forces unleashed by nature — is torn between progress and superstition. When a devastating storm tears a family apart, shock ignites. Austrians Filin Schmolzer, Janina Stopper and Franziska Weiss stood in front of the camera along with Anton Spieker, Saska Gerszak, Detlev Buck and others. Daniela Baumgard and Constantin Leib wrote the script, loosely based on the 2001 novel “Hawk Hyens Todd” by Andrea Baluch and Robert Habeck. The ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna recorded the film music of Karwan Maruf (“Fuchs im Bau”) for the production “Die Flut – Tod am Deich”. ORF 2 shows the NORDFILM production in association with ARD Degeto in collaboration with ORF with the support of nordmedia Film- und Mediengessellschaft Niedersachsen/Bremen on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 8:15 p.m.
