Egisto Ott case handled by National Security Council – Austria

On Tuesday evening, the National Security Council will focus on the espionage case involving the arrested former federal office. The group was convened by Chancellor Nehhammer, initiated by the Greens.

The National Security Council acts as an advisory body to the Central Government on matters of foreign, defense and security policy. It consists of the President, Vice-Chancellor, Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Home Affairs, Defense and Justice Affairs and members of the parties represented in the National Council. He is supported by representatives from the Office of the President or the Conference of State Governors, the Secretary General of the Foreign Office, the Chief of the General Staff, the Director General of Public Security and other officers.

Former LVT employee suspended in Egisto Ott case

Meanwhile, more details regarding the Ott case came to light on Tuesday. The now-retired official from the former Vienna State Office for Protecting the Constitution and Combating Terrorism has been suspended for nine months – until the end of May 2023, the “Kurier” reports. Criminal charges against him have been dropped, but disciplinary proceedings are reportedly still pending.
