Dance Event – Line Dancing Evening at the Allesman Inn

Last Saturday, the line dance group Gaflenz invited people to their annual clubbing with live music at Gasthaus Jedermann in Gaflenz. Ingrid Buder from Coughlens founded the group a few years ago after discovering her passion for this form of group dance.

“I had my first contact with line dancing in 2018,” she says. “I was looking for a hobby that you could do on your own that had something to do with dancing.” She attended an introductory course at Weir, which was an advanced course.

“I was really interested in it and wanted to do it,” Puder reports. “I started my first group in 2019, and these guys are still there today. The starting groups kept coming and now we’ve gotten to the point where we’re relaxed, relaxed and dancing and taking part in a lot of events.

Line dance group Gaflenz has already participated in world record attempts in Gabrun twice. Front and back: Renate Schön, Monica Hochhaldinger, Markit Heigl, Karin Berndl, Elfriede Fischer, Ingrid Puder, Klaus Hochhaldinger, Drouty Maderthaner, Christa Bren and Klaus Ferzinger.

The group has so far taken part in two line dance world record attempts in Kabrun, performs at various events in the region and organizes line dance evenings at the Jederman Guest House in Kaflens and organizes performance dances for patients of the Weyer Rehabilitation Center. Other groups also go to events in Kauflens to showcase their talents.

Jerry Mountain provided musical entertainment throughout the evening

Once a year, including last Saturday, Alesman hosts line dance clubbing with live music. This time around, guitarist and singer Jerry Mountain provided country and rock and roll classics along with dance-worthy music. “We can use Jederman for our weekly training sessions and we are very grateful for this opportunity,” says Buder. “Many thanks also to our sponsors who support us at events, without whom this would not be possible.”

Since 2021, Buder has also been offering line dancing lessons commercially. However, the success of group dance cannot be stopped. “Corona has slowed this growth somewhat, but now there is a big upswing again,” he says. “Some of the things that make line dancing attractive to a lot of people are, for example, you can do it without a partner, and it’s also suitable for older people who want to stay fit in their old age. It works all the muscles, preventing falls, and is good for brain health and general fitness.”

But younger dancers also enjoy line dancing, so the group regularly offers children’s courses and workshops as part of the holiday fun program. “We have people from seven to 74 years old dancing,” Buder says. If you would like to try your hand at line dancing, please contact [email protected].
