Breathe a sigh of relief in Austria: the weather is now completely changing

18 people have died so far due to the heavy rains that have been falling for the past few days. Another person was found dead in floods in Austria on Monday evening. It was not initially clear whether the man, aged between 40 and 50, was also a flood victim. Many more are missing.

The center of the city looks like a bomb exploded

In the small Polish town of Kłodzko, about 100 kilometers south of Wrocław, part of the pedestrian zone looked like it had been bombed. Shops on the ground floor had broken windows and doors. Inside, shelves were overturned and loose cables hung around. In Kłodzko the Kladzer Neisse, a tributary of the Oder, overflowed its banks.

On the same river lies the small town of Nysa, where water entered the emergency room of the local district hospital, PAP news agency reported. 33 patients, including children and pregnant women, were brought to safety in rubber boats. Local authorities ordered evacuations in Nysa and Paczkow. A crack in the dam wall of a reservoir in a small town in southwestern Poland. Extensive support has been announced for the victims

Dresden: The water level is significantly higher

In Saxony, a worried gaze is directed towards the Czech Republic and the Elbe. Mass water from neighboring country reaches Germany with delay. In Dresden, the Elbe’s water level is already four times the normal level of 1.42 meters there, and was expected to exceed six meters later in the day. It was 9.40 meters during the flood of the century in 2002.

Levels rise again in Bavaria

According to the German Weather Service (DWD), the heavy rain is expected to taper off in the south and east of Bavaria by midday. But before that, people have to prepare for the water to rise again. In Passau, the Danube’s water level exceeded the warning level at 3 a.m., according to a report by the Bavarian Flood Intelligence Service. Many streets, sidewalks and parking lots were closed.
