Clinical Research Mile with Live Cardiac Surgery

As in 2022, a heart surgery can be seen live again at the AKH Lecture Hall Center. At the ten MedUni Vienna locations in the 9th district, the focus is not only on cardiac, but also on bioinformatics, emergency medicine, pharmacy and cancer research. You can also visit the Fool’s Tower with its patho-anatomy collections and the University Dental Clinic, where you can make your own dental fillings.

A rare insight into the UN and specialized laboratories

“The Long Night of Research” enabled entry into inaccessible areas of politics and science. The city of UNO and the TU Vienna Science Center can be explored in the Arsenale, which houses several large and specialized TU laboratories. Visitors had access to, among other things, Austria’s fastest supercomputer, as well as access to the Hydraulic Engineering Hall for moving water and the Magna Hall, where vehicles and their components are tested.

Downtown becomes a research hub

13 locations in the inner city had a particularly high number of program items. At Heldenplatz “Research in the Center” and at the Austrian Academy of Sciences you can experiment at many interactive stations, and there were science shows for enthusiasts of all ages.

One of the highlights of the “Long Night of Research” was the science podcast “Methodically Wrong! (Small Perfect)” performed by cabaret troupe “Science Busters” in Vienna’s Heldenplatz.

Locked doors opened

At the Natural History Museum, tours open previously closed doors into scientific work areas and collections. The focus is on taxonomy, which examines the classification of animal species and thus species diversity.

Society, environment and culture are highlighted in the “Long Night of Research” and natural sciences and technology. At MAK and the Academy of Fine Arts, artistic research is not neglected, with topics such as fashion and restoration technology.
