The American company is promoting the thinnest Apple device to date

As expected, tech giant Apple on Tuesday unveiled a new variant of the iPad Pro with a new chip for artificial intelligence. The iPhone company wants to enter the race for AI supremacy. The iPad Pro — Apple’s most expensive tablet model, priced between 1,199 and 1,449 euros — is equipped with a particularly powerful M4 chip. The iPad model series also has an OLED screen, and a version with a 13-inch display is, according to the company, the thinnest Apple device to date (5.1 millimeters), the company emphasized at Tuesday’s presentation.

The M4 chip “comes with a large ‘neural engine'” — a part of the chip “specifically designed for the computing power needed for AI operations such as generating text or images.” It wasn’t clear what AI features the new M4 chips might offer until June 10 at Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference, where new capabilities for Siri, its voice assistant and its other operating systems are often unveiled, according to reports. .

An improved pen (Pencil Pro) for iPads was also introduced. The cheaper iPad Air model series has also been updated, now featuring a larger version with a 13-inch display.
