In a press conference earlier this afternoon, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Chris Fearne has announced that by this evening 70% of the adult population in our country will be vaccinated with at least the first dose. Fearne said the virus transmission has now dropped drastically but stressed that it does not mean that those who are vaccinated cannot be infected.
He stressed that close to 42% are completely vaccinated. Meanwhile from 1st July, those who are fully vaccinated are not obliged to wear masks in open spaces, as long as they are in groups of not more than two people.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Chris Fearne pointed out that vaccination is important. He stressed that this measure would come in to force as long as the rate of infections remains low. He said that in groups of more than two, wearing a mask remains mandatory even in the open.
The Deputy Prime Minister explained that to ensure that the removal of masks measure is taken seriously, people should carry and show the vaccine certificate when requested by public officials.
