The Union of Cabin Crew and Air Malta have agreed on a number of conditions that will help the company emerge from the impact of the Coronavirus while at the same time making the national airline more sustainable.
On Facebook, the Minister responsible for Air Malta, Silvio Schembri, welcomed the vote of the Air Malta Cabin Crew, saying that the negotiations have been difficult and lengthy. While cabin crew had to make some sacrifices, these discussions have enabled all employees to retain their jobs despite the situation.
Minister Schembri said that as a result of their sacrifice, the company will now be operating on a more competitive level. He said that now all that remains is to reach an agreement with the ALPA Pilots’ Union so that they too can cooperate in order to reduce the company’s operating costs. He concluded that the Government will continue to work to help the Maltese airline.
