PN’s General Council to decide the future of the party’s leadership

Posted by Vento on 30th July 2020 in Local News

Members of the Nationalist Party’s General Council began voting last night on whether party members should confirm Adrian Delia as party leader or whether a leadership election should be held. The decision stands with the 1,630 eligible councillors in whose hands the Party’s future rests. This was decided after a meeting of the executive last Thursday, following Delia’s lost vote of confidence in both the parliamentary group and the executive earlier this month.

Former Nationalist leader and former Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi was among the first to cast his vote. The casting process comes to an end next Saturday, with the announcement of the result expected to be announced at approximately 8.00 p.m. of the same day.

Meanwhile the Nationalist Party’s Electoral Commission said that 484 Councillors voted in the early election of the extraordinary General Council held last night. 404 voted at the PN’s Dar Centrali in Tal-Pieta and 80 voted at the PN sub headquarters in Ta’ Sannat in Gozo.
