Minister for Gozo, Clint Camilleri has launched the Work Trial Scheme for Youths, a scheme aimed at all young people looking for work and aged between 16 and 20. Minister Camilleri explained that eligible participants will be receiving € 90 per week for a total of € 450 for five weeks. He stated that the aim of this scheme is to give more young Gozitans a job opportunity in Gozo itself. In fact, eligible participants may be given a job opportunity within the private sector and / or a voluntary organization (VO). The Ministry will be paying employers up to 20 hours a week for each employee. The employer may then choose to incentivize these young people and continue to employ or increase their hours.
Minister Camilleri said that all those attending an educational institution (secondary school, MCAST, ITS, Junior College, University) are eligible to apply. He stated that the Work Trial Scheme for Youths will run for five weeks, from Monday, 3 August 2020, to Friday, 4 September 2020.
Applications will open between Monday, July 6, 2020 until Friday, July 10, 2020 at noon. Application can be found online at mgoz.gov.mt. Employers must be registered with Jobsplus in order to be eligible to employ Youth Trainee Participants through this scheme, and the job offered must be on the island of Gozo.
- Participants must be 16 years of age or older by Sunday July 12, 2020;
- Applicants who are considered as youths and are registering as Part 1 or who are not working may participate in this scheme;
- Applicants registering as Part 1 with Jobsplus must submit a Declaration from the Department of Social Security together with the application;
- Payment of grants will be made upon receipt of attendance by the Ministry for Gozo. The Attendance Schedule shall be sent to the MGOZ at the end of the scheme by no later than Friday, 11 September 2020 at noon.
