Permit for Manoel Island Project revoked

Posted by Vento on 17th June 2020 in Local News

The Manoel Island project has had its permit revoked by the Environmental and Planning Review Tribunal (EPRT). Project developers, MIDI, were ordered to prepare a new Environmental Impact Assessment, a process which may take months to complete.

This latest development means that the developers have to start their studies from scratch.

The appeal was filed by the environmental NGO ‘Flimkien għal Ambjent Aħjar’ (FAA). Last October the EPRT had accepted a complaint about a conflict of interest brought by the FAA regarding the environmental impact report for the project.

The development permit for 610 apartments on Manoel Island was approved by the Planning Authority in 2019.
