A number of aircraft leasing companies are expected to base their operations in Malta. This emerged during the launch of Aircraft Leasing Malta, an initiative aimed precisely at encouraging such companies to relocate to Malta.
Prime Minister Robert Abela said he was confident that this new niche in aviation would bear fruit and said it would help the local industry recover from the impact of Covid19 and complete the range of services that the country offers in this sector.
Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects Ian Borg said that today aviation registration counts 475 aircraft and mentioned how companies in this industry wanted another European flag outside of Ireland from which to operate, while he expressed his confidence that this initiative will bring a number of companies to Malta.
Captain Charles Pace, Director General of the Civil Aviation Directorate within Transport Malta, mentioned that while aircraft leasing companies are interested in putting up shop in our country, this initiative fully complements the aviation services sector.
