We need to take care of those who take care of us! An initiative by HR Connect aimed at Malta’s healthcare workers on the frontline of the COVID-19 pandemic

Posted by Vento on 5th April 2020 in Local News

In a very short span of time, our lives have all changed drastically. We are living through unprecedented circumstances and while we may have lost our freedom for the time being, it is greatly inspiring to see that we haven’t lost our sense of community, empathy or gratitude.

It is with this same spirit of appreciation towards those who bravely man the frontlines of this epidemic, which unfortunately has also reached our shores, that members of HR Connect, namely L&L Europe, ComeOn and CatenaMedia, have come together to provide  lunches for 65 nurses, doctors, and other staff working at Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Directorate, responsible for testing patients for COVID-19.

“When we heard that we could be of help to health workers here in Malta there was no hesitation from our side,” ComeOn Group People Experience Manager, Melis Sezer, said. “We cannot even imagine what they are going through and how their life looks like right now. All we want is for these people to feel like real heroes. Small tokens like this go far and, hopefully, we will be able to make these people feel just how appreciated they are.”

Usually responsible for keeping hundreds of iGaming employees well-fed and watered, chefs from the same HR Connect member companies are now in charge of providing our brave healthcare workers with nutritious meals every day from Monday to Friday. According to Gerda Kacileviciute, Events Manager at iGaming idol, who is coordinating the initiative with HR Connect, the food is being kindly delivered by BOLT, the leading European transportation platform and Malta’s most popular cab company.

Pavel Pogodin, Social Media Manager, Bolt, commented, “During these unprecedented times, we all need to stay together as a community and as a country. We are nothing without the people on the frontline, that protect us and make sacrifices for us. Bolt is ready to help in any way we can, to support those, who are currently fighting to protect us. Let’s stay together as one country!”

Once again, the iGaming industry’s commitment to be of service to the community is clearly evident during a time of such adversity, a time when it is essential to reach out and take care of those who are taking care of the rest of us.
