€ 100 fine for each person in groups of more than three

Posted by Vento on 30th March 2020 in Local News

“I feel angry that a number of people are going out as if it were a holiday.” This is how Interior Minister Byron Camilleri launched a COVID-19 news conference.

A legal notice banning groups of more than three will be announced. Gatherings consisting of four people will be fined € 100 per person. Therefore, a group of four will be fined € 400, ten will be fined € 1,000, and so on.

Regarding grocery queues, bus stops and other necessities, distance needs to be maintained. Regarding police resources, Camilleri announced that the cavalry as well as the canine section will be dispatched to rural areas to maintain order. He said many are adhering to the announced instructions and measures, but this is not the time for leisurely activities such as picnics, and sacrifices need to be made.
