The Archbishop’s curia has earlier today formally announced the forthcoming visit by His Holiness Pope Francis to the Maltese Islands on the 31st May 2020. Archbishop Charles Scicluna who was officiating the pontifical mass on the occasion of the feast of the Shipwreck of St Paul invited the President of Malta Dr George Vella, to make the public announcement. The Archbishop also presented the President with the Logo of the Papal visit.
The formal statement issued by the Archbishop’s Curia states, “Welcoming the invitation of the President of the Republic of Malta, the Authorities and the Catholic Church of the Country, His Holiness Pope Francis will make an Apostolic Journey to Malta and Gozo on 31st May 2020. The programme of the journey will be published at a later stage.”
