Prime Minister Robert Abela has announced that the motion seeking the appointment of Dr. Konrad Mizzi as OSCE Head of the Maltese has been repealed. Abela has also announced that the government will also be seeking legal advice on the validity of a consultancy contract with the Malta Tourism Authority awarded to Mizzi in December, a few weeks after he resigned from his ministerial post.
This announcement comes less than 24 hours after the same motion was proposed, following a spat of public outrage. In 2016, Konrad Mizzi was revealed to have opened a secret company in Panama together with Keith Schembri, former chief of staff to Joseph Muscat.
In his announcement, the Prime Minister, Robert Abela reiterated that the government will continue to show that it is giving absolute priority to good governance, in order for our country to be able to implement its work abroad more effectively.
