Clint Camilleri appointed as new Minister for Gozo following Justyne Caruana’s resignation

Posted by Vento on 21st January 2020 in Local News

Clint Camilleri will be appointed as the new Minister for Gozo following Justyne Caruana’s resignation from the role she has occupied since 2017. Anton Refalo will once again form part of the cabinet, taking on the role of Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, vacated by Camilleri.

Justyne Caruana’s resignation comes hot on the heels of a report published by the Sunday Times of Malta which revealed how Caruana’s husband, Silvio Valletta, a former Deputy Police Commissioner, has travelled to London with Yorgen Fenech, the man accused with the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia. The report alleged that when Valletta travelled with Fenech, the latter was already a suspect.

This incident has put great pressure on Caruana, who has consequently resigned from her ministerial role.
