Unconfirmed sources have reported that Prime Minister’s Robert Abela new cabinet has undergone a radical reshuffle from that of his predecessor Joseph Muscat. According to these same sources Jose Herrera has been appointed as Minister for Culture and Local Councils, Silvio Schembri has been promoted to Minister for the Economy, Trade and Airmalta, with his previous role as Parliamentary Secretary for Financial Services, Digital Economy and Innovation, now to be occupied by Clayton Bartolo.
Edward Zammit Lewis is the new Minister for Justice, replacing Owen Bonnici, who as yet has not been presented with a ministerial role. More appointments are comprised of Aaron Farrugia as Minister for the Environment, Planning and Climate Change, while Rosianne Cutajar, the youngest MP of this legislature will take on the Parliamentary Secretariat portfolio for Reforms, Citizenship and Simplification of Administrative Processes previously held by Julia Farrugia Portelli.
Ian Borg is to retain the Ministry for Transport and Infrastructure with the addition of Special Projects, part of the portfolio previously held by Konrad Mizzi, who resigned earlier in November.
As reported earlier by this portal Byron Camilleri is to be appointed as new Home Affairs Minister instead of Michael Farrugia. Meanwhile, leadership contender Chris Fearne will continue to serve as deputy prime minister and health minister in Robert Abela’s new cabinet.
