Despite her resounding popularity in numerous surveys, MEP Miriam Dalli has declared that she will not contest the election of a new Labour Party leader.
“I want to thank all those who supported and encouraged me to contest this role. I will continue to work tirelessly at the European Parliament to re-establish the trust shown by the citizens of Malta and Gozo,” Dalli said in a short message on Facebook.
A MaltaToday survey published in March 2018, established Miriam Dalli as the second most favourite candidate after Robert Abela. However, in the same survey, 62.6% of those interviewed claimed that they had no preference as to who could replace Muscat.
