The delegation of MEPs (MEPs) who are currently in Malta have stated that they are “very concerned” by the fact that the Prime Minister will retain his office for another month. “This is a concern which relates to the integrity of the investigation into the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia.”
Sophie in ‘t Veld, the Head of Delegation of the LIBE Committee of Members of the European Parliament, which is currently in our country, said, “We need absolute confidence in the integrity of the investigation. However, while Muscat still retains his position, that confidence is no longer there.” She continued that it is even more concerning that Parliament was being suspended for a long span of time.
“With the names of former Chief of Staff Keith Schembri and former Minister Konrad Mizzi implicated in stories of corruption and money laundering, either the Prime Minister was incredibly naïve to retain them, or he is in some way implicated.”
