Senglea Cultural Association objects to proposed AUM plans

Posted by Vento on 1st October 2019 in Local News

The Senglea Cultural Association (SCA) which comprises of a number of cultural and sports enthusiasts and educators is extremely concerned on the new proposed buildings which will have a visual impact on the walls of Senglea and their dominance over the port.

One would have expected that AUM offers to restore cultural heritage in Senglea rather than destroying its beauty and heritage. This would give also a better environment to their students with a better learning experience. The same experience would be enjoyed by students’ visitors and also by the Maltese.

To the contrary AUM has decided to propose a horrendous structure that :

1. Will damage Senglea Heritage

2. Will have a negative visual impact

3. Is not congruent with the activities in the area

4. increase the parking problem

4. Cause inconvenience to residents.

In view of the above, the Senglea Cultural Association calls on the District MPs to protect Senglea and the Cottonera region from  such unnecessary projects which can easily be relocated to more appropriate areas.
