According to data published by Eurostat, Maltese tourists on holiday away from our shores spend nearly double the European average. Statistics show Malta as the third ranking European country to spend more on holidays. According to same publication, Maltese tourists spend on average €630 when on holiday.
Ranking in first and second place respectively are citizens from Luxembourg and Austria who spend a little more than the Maltese during their holidays. The European average €370 per person. On average, Maltese tourists spend €120 per night.
Eurostat latest statistics further illustrate that during 2017, European citizens have spent €460 billion on tourism. 44% of this amount was spent domestically, while the rest was spent during holidays outside their respective country.
