HSBC Bank Malta p.l.c. announces the appointment of Ms Joyce Grech as Head of Commercial Banking, at a date still to be determined. Joyce Grech will be succeeding Michel Cordina, who was appointed as an Executive Director and Head of Business Development of the Bank in April 2019.
Joyce Grech is currently the Bank’s Chief Risk Officer, a role she has occupied since April 2013. She started her career in Trade Finance and Commercial Banking, before moving to the Bank’s Credit department, where she spent over five years, the last three of which as Deputy Head of Credit.
Before taking up her role as Chief Risk Officer of the Bank in April 2013, she worked in the Bank’s Retail Banking and Wealth Management division, where she headed the Customer Value Management department. She is a Non-Executive Director of HSBC Life Assurance (Malta) Ltd. Joyce Grech will be succeeded by Mr Gerard Walsh as Chief Risk Officer of the Bank, subject to regulatory approval, at a date still to be determined.
Gerard Walsh joined the Bank in June 2018 as Head of Lending Services and Risk Governance, having previously served as Chief Risk Officer for HSBC Mauritius from 2014 to 2018, as well as Executive Director of the Mauritius subsidiary from 2017 to 2018. He will become a member of the Bank’s Executive Committee and an attendee at Board meetings.
