The Hilton may be well known as a five star Hotel but its catering service is actually a disservice to anyone looking for decent dining.
I had the opportunity last Friday to go to St Julians as needed to host some international guests. We decided to proceed to Quarter Deck at the Hilton. We sat at a table but were ignored for about 20 minutes in spite of us trying to reach to the waiting staff. We decided to leave and proceeded towards the Hilton restaurant.
We walked down and were greeted by this young smart lady who very politely advised that we could choose between the indian buffet or the a la carte menu. We went for a la carte and were accompanied to a table outside by the pool. Immediately afterwards we were asked for drinks. Following that we were forgotten for about ten minutes. Finally the water and prosecco came. Few minutes later the menu came. Once again we were forgotten by some other 20 minutes …. the water and the prosecco were both finished when the waiter came for the order. To compensate the food was brought some 10 minutes later ( chef was quicker than waiter… waited more for the water!) was relatively good. Dessert was adequate.
In substance if you have a five star guest avoid the Hilton for dining. Expensive and not adequate service.
