We walked in the restaurant and were pleasantly greeted at the door. We were asked whether we had a reservation. Unfortunately we did not, but the host arranged for us a table.
The menu at La Vela does not change frequently and we say why change the delicious assortment of items on that menu.
We are regulars there and know the menu pretty well. The best starter in the menu is definitely the mixed starter. You need to be careful though on the number of items you request as if you are not too hungry you will not make it to your next course. All items are mouth watering. We were not too hungry so we went for a couple of oysters and two neonati. We coupled this with a nice bottle of Chablis whilst we were sitting in the romantic setting looking over the Msida Marina. While we were eating, the charming Michelle Muscat who owns the restaurant came to see if everything was going well to our expectations.
Our second plate came over. Being at La Vela one would only recommend fish as a main course given that it is always fresh and uniquely cooked. Our spnott al sale was served to us well filleted and the experience was as usual, beyond expectations. It is one of those experiences whereby you truly appreciate food culture.
We decided to pass on dessert as our body was truly enjoying the two courses we had. La Vela restaurant is recommendable for food and atmosphere in romantic evenings as well as for hosting persons you wish to impress.
