Infrastructure Malta is closing part of Triq il-Fortizza tal-Mosta, in Mosta for several evenings this week, to repair its surface with new asphalt layers.
This road links the Targa Gap (L-Gharusa tal-Mosta) area in the outskirts of Mosta to the San Pawl tat-Targa and Birguma areas of Naxxar. It is used by many road users to bypass the main roads in the centre of Mosta, when travelling to and from Naxxar, San Gwann and other localities in the same direction.
Infrastructure Malta’s contractors will be removing the existing surface of an extensive stretch of this road to repair its foundations and lay a new asphalt surface. These works will be carried out at night to keep the road open in both directions during the day. The rest of the road will be repaired and resurfaced later this year.
Tonight, Monday 24th September, and on the following evenings until the end of the week, between 2100hrs and 0500hrs of the following morning, part of this road between the Mosta Bridge (Wied il-Ghasel) and the T-junction to Triq E.Bradford, will be closed in both directions. Road users are encouraged to follow the alternative routes indicated by roadside signs posted in the area. Traffic management officers will also be on site to assist road users in difficulty.
Other ongoing Infrastructure Malta investments to improve the quality, efficiency and safety of the area’s road network include the widening of the upper part of T’Alla u Ommu Hill, at the roundabout connecting it to the eastern end of Triq il-Fortizza tal-Mosta, in Birguma, the widening and rebuilding of Triq tal-Balal, between Naxxar and San Gwann and the upgrading of the Mosta Technopark roundabout in Mosta.
