Parliamentary Secretary for Financial Services, Digital Economy and Innovation Silvio Schembri met with the students participating in the 10th edition of MITA Student Placement Programme.
“This programme gives the students the opportunity to apply their academic knowledge in a workplace environment. I encourage all students to make the best out of this opportunity, said Schembri. Silvio Schembri affirmed that this programme has been a success throughout the years and it will work as a model for other similar programmes in other areas such as gaming and finance.
MITA Chairman Tony Sultana urged students to make the most of this opportunity as it offers a rich work experience whereby allowing real time application of theory into practice.
This programme is a means for the government to facilitate the creation of temporary work opportunities for students in the ICT sector and for this year’s programme, the government through MITA, allocated the sum of €600,000. This year the programme successfully managed to place over 370 candidates.
