December 2017: Industrial production up by 0.9% over the previous month

According to latest data published by the National Statistics Office (NSO) in December 2017, seasonally adjusted industrial production increased by 0.9 per cent over the previous month. When compared to December 2016, the index of industrial production adjusted for working days increased by 0.1 per cent.

Monthly comparison

In December 2017, the seasonally adjusted index of industrial production increased by 0.9 per cent. Increases were registered in three main industrial groupings including the production of capital goods (5.3 per cent), energy (0.7 per cent) and intermediate goods (0.1 per cent). Meanwhile, the production of consumer goods decreased by 4.3 per cent.

Annual comparison

When compared to December 2016, the index of industrial production adjusted for working days increased by 0.1 per cent. Increases were registered in the production of capital goods (12.5 per cent) and energy (2.9 per cent). On the contrary, the production of intermediate goods and consumer goods went down by 6.8 per cent and 2.4 per cent respectively.
