Minister for the Economy, Investment and Small Businesses Chris Cardona met First Vice President of Antonov Iurii Kordianin at their head office in Kiev, Ukraine.  The purpose of this meeting was to follow up on discussions held earlier during the year between Ukraine President Petro Poroschenko and Prime Minister Joseph Muscat during Poroschenko’s visit to Malta in March regarding the possibility of Antonov investing in Malta in the aviation business.

Minister Cardona was accompanied by Ambassador to Ukraine John Debono and officials from MIMCOL and Malta Enterprise.

Kordianin agreed that Malta offers concrete investment advantages in specific niches of the aviation sectors particularly for Antonov’s business in Africa.

Detailed technical and commercial information were exchanged and it is expected that further talks will follow.

Minister Cardona during the trip will also be meeting his counterpart to discuss other business proposals of mutual interest in the food sector.
