During a meeting held yesterday for party activists, the leader of the Nationalist Party, Simon Busuttil, said that the election result was unexpected.
He reiterated that the result should be respected and added that there is no evidence that the electoral process was not a correct and proper one. He went on to say that, “We still believe in what we believed. What we believed in, is still valid.”
He also said, “Just because our beliefs are not shared by the majority, it is not a reason for us to discard them,” while insisting that PN supporters should remain proud. Dr Busuttil reiterated that he is honest.
Finally, Dr Busuttil urged the crowd present, “I want you to be proud to be Nationalist.”
