Photo: Victor Calleja climbs to deliver his impromptu speech from the ladder
Known for his articles and blog posts in leading publications and portals, Victor Calleja’s style is quirky with a twist of humour even when tackling the most mundane or serious subjects. He loves poking fun at politicians and anything or anyone he deems too pompous or fundamentalist.
And fun-filled episodes, laced with a hint of nostalgia, are what you can expect in Calleja’s first book, ‘where’s my brother? and other confessions’. The book was recently published by Kite and launched with a jocular difference at Fort St Elmo. It captures Calleja’s deeds, misdeeds and all sorts of incidents, poking fun at anything from funerals to weddings and trips abroad.
During the launch Thomas Camilleri, whose CV includes appearances in major London theatre productions, entertained the guests with readings from Calleja’s book while perched on a ladder.
Victor Calleja’s ‘where’s my brother’ is the first book in a series of confessions which promises to give readers not just an entertaining look into his life and flaws but also at the way Malta and its people have changed over the last 60 years.
This latest publication by Kite Group will be available at the National Book Festival to be held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta between the 9th and the 13th November, and can be purchased now on www.kitegroup.com.mt or from leading bookstores.
