Following an agreement signed last year between Malta Enterprise and Bank Muscat of the Sultanate of Oman, a delegation made up of 12 businesswomen travelled to Oman, to explore joint collaboration between the two countries in the field of entrepreneurial pursuits. The businesswomen came from the following sectors: education, marine, real estate, information communication technology, waste management, consultancy, home décor and fine arts.
Together with Bank Muscat, Riyada, the Public Authority for SME Development in Oman, also contributed in the preparation of this visit.
The main event of this visit was the Oman-Malta SME Business Forum held at the Bank’s head office which was attended by key government officials and a large turnout of entrepreneurs. The forum was addressed by Mr AbdulRazak Ali Issa, Chief Executive of Bank Muscat, Mr Khalifa bin Said Al Abri, Chief Executive Officer of Riyada and Ms Carmen Walls of Malta Enterprise. The Maltese delegates each delivered a presentation on their respective businesses.
Following the forum, one to one meetings were organized at the bank. Meetings were also scheduled on-site with relevant counterparts. Riyada also hosted the delegation and organized one to one meetings. A meeting was also held with the Omani Women Association where several issues encountered by women in the business world were discussed.
It is earmarked that an Omani business delegation will be visiting Malta in April and following this a Maltese delegation will visit Oman later during the year.
These companies were also assisted by Trade Malta.
